Basic Info about entering
The full rules are available on the sign up form.
All contestants MUST check in and be prejudged and you must have a DreamHack ticket to be eligible to enter. Cosplays should contain nothing dangerous or offensive – this con is family friendly and will not permit fire, excessive glitter, messy substances etc on the stage. Mock fighting is cool if it’s in slow-motion and completely fake (no physical contact). We have a zero tolerance policy for bullying, everyone is here to have fun!
Each contestant will have 10 minutes with our panel of expert judges during pre-judging. Contestants will be judged on craftsmanship, technical difficulty, accuracy, embodiment of the character, and stage presence. Judges will use the stage show to judge your stage presence and crowd engagement (so have fun with it!). Cosplayers will get approximately one minute to walk across the stage and take three poses for the final judging.
Contestants may not compete in a cosplay that was sponsored and/or has won previous (greater than $500 prize pool) competitions before the entry deadline. Cosplays must be family friendly with nothing beyond a PG-13 rating. Competitors must have made or helped make the majority of their cosplay, or the majority creator must be present to explain their work.
Weapons will be checked by main event security – please be advised that blunt, metal, functioning projectile, and any realistic weapons will most likely not be allowed through security. Ensure cosplay props are easily recognizable as props, could not inflict serious damage, and do not contain sharp edges or other dangerous elements.
You are encouraged to bring pictures of any props to show the judges in the case that they are not appropriate props for a convention setting. See the entry form and rubric for additional guidelines and rules.
If you’re looking to get off the floor and take a load off from carrying around your gear or you want to fix a tear, this is the place to be. While it will be closed off for a small portion of the show for judging, it will otherwise serve as a cosplayers escape or quick fix station. Only cosplayers will be admitted.
