We are returning to the Malmö Arena in Malmö, Sweden, featuring 16 world class CS:GO teams battling for the $250,000 prize pool on October 4-6, 2019!
Closely linked to Copenhagen, Denmark, Malmö makes for the perfect spot bringing together CS:GO fans from around the world as the second CORSAIR DreamHack Masters tournament of 2019 opens its doors in October. Malmö Arena, first opened in 2008 and recently updated, is a modern multi-arena hosting everything from music and sports too, of course, esports. This is the third time that CORSAIR DreamHack Masters will be held in the arena that has shown itself to provide the perfect setting for an amazing esports experience.
“We are very happy to be able to welcome DreamHack back and look forward to a great partnership. DreamHack is an extremely important part of our goal to make Malmö, and the whole region, a part of the international esports scene,” said Linn Möller-Laketic, project manager at Event in Skåne.
”Malmö was the first city to ever host DreamHack Masters and so it holds a special place in all of our hearts, including a legendary win from NiP on home soil,” Said Michael Van Driel, Chief Product Officer at DreamHack AB, “We are tremendously excited to bring CORSAIR DreamHack Masters back to Malmö Arena and fans can expect the best experience yet as we expand to feature matches for 3 days in the arena and continue with more improvements for the visitor experience.”
The tournament is split into two stages, a group stage, played at Malmömässan and open to the public, with the playoffs being played in front of the crowd in Malmö Arena.
Tickets will be released on Friday, May 24 at 10 AM CEST and will include different ticket types with everything from general attendance to a limited amount of skyboxes.
Malmö, home to several successful game developers, is determined to become one of the leading gaming hubs in Europe. As part of this aspiration, the city has created Malmö Game Week, with the purpose to connect the industry, the game developers, with the community, through different events. These events revolve around esports, board-game championships, BYOC LAN, cosplay, expo, conferences, workshop, and other activities that will engage the audience, youth and parents alike. With one of the esports events featured during Malmö Game Week is the Esports School Championship.
“One of the initial goals with Malmö Game Week was to bring back a big arena event, something that has one been fulfilled as CORSAIR DreamHack Masters returns to the city,” said Paul Petterson-Rebelo, Project Manager at Malmö Stad.
Premiering in 2018, MalmöLAN is a BYOC LAN event in Malmö that last year had 500 seats in its LAN area. Now MalmöLAN returns for a second edition as part of Malmö Game Week on September 27-29. Last years event featured BYOC tournaments, expo, cosplay, and much more, so be sure to check it out as more information will be released regarding the 2019 edition along the way.
