Cosplay is primed to take centre stage at DreamHack Melbourne 2023, with an action-packed schedule sure to delight cosplay enthusiasts from across Oceania — including a cosplay competition with a prize pool of $16,000 AUD!
Taking place on Saturday April 29th is the main cosplay competition, with a first prize of $7,500 going to the winner. Second and third will also receive cash prizes, while Sunday’s cosplay showcase will have $1,000 available in spot prizes. Dust off your sewing machines and fire up the hot glue guns for your chance to win and expect a wide range of costumes from across fandoms!
Exclusive to cosplayers will be the DreamHack cosplay lounge, allowing you to take a break from the spotlight and recharge your batteries. Additionally, it’s the perfect place to team up with other cosplayers (and even snap a photo or two!). This will be open for the duration of DreamHack Melbourne 2023, so definitely make use of the lounge whenever you need it.
We know cosplay is a constant labour of love, so if something comes loose or looks slightly off, we’ve got the repair station set up with all the necessities to let you drop in and fix whatever needs fixing! The cosplay lounge will host the repair station during the entire conference, so it’s a one-stop shop to get you looking your best ahead of the various events over the course of the weekend!
Both veteran and beginner cosplay enthusiasts are welcome to attend our cosplay panel, filled with tips and tricks designed to let beginners put their best foot forward while also covering techniques to help experts enhance their cosplay even further. The lineup of talented cosplayers heading up the panel is yet to be released, so keep an eye out on the DreamHack website for future announcements!
