Hi, I’m Akara! I’m a Swedish artist that loves to draw cute merch. I’m mostly inspired by Japan’s kawaii themes but I like to add some Swedish to it as well to really make it my own. I sell mostly my own characters, the biggest one being a white ghost kitten named Yuki and her friends. Their world is ever-growing as I try new things and ways to incorporate my designs into fun trinkets and everyday items. Akara’s Wish comes from my wish to make people happy when they see the things I create. It’s very cheesy, I know! But it’s what keeps me motivated to keep going and seeing a smile at my table really makes my day. Akara’s Wish started in 2020 but before it I used to either take commissioned work or work on adoptable projects. Art has always been a big part of my life and growing up in the late 90s and 2000’s I always thought I’d never work with art, as I was told it would take away my passion for it. But as I got older I realised work is such a big part of my life, and I want to enjoy work when it’s such a long time. That’s when I decided I wanted to pursue my passion and actually make it my work. Sometimes I’m scared it will make me feel drained and I’ll start dislike drawing, but I make sure I balance the drawing. My biggest challenge has actually been to keep down my excitement levels, as there are a million things I want to make! Young me could have never imagined she’d be able to do all the things she saw in the stores growing up: stickers, keychains, books, plushies! Little did she know it would go from a dream to reality!
